@krepver: I'm not sure the policy officially covers out-of-repo packages (see e.g. external kernel modules which are explicitly not supported). Regardless, even if this update is not pushed to F31 stable, your application will need to be updated to the 7.0 API (which has been in development since at least May 2019) before F31 EOL (around December 2020) if you want to depend on the Fedora package since F32 will definitely include it. I may be able to help with this transition, but generally you should try to get your application packaged in Fedora if you want the Fedora packages to support it.
@xvitaly Is it possible for someone not a maintainer of the package to update/rebuild it? Or should I submit some PRs and request they rebuild it?
I've been in communication with the package maintainer for the only dependent package (vfrnav) and made him aware of my intentions to update the package--which is seriously outdated--to which he had no issue. I understand that the official policy does not allow for such updates, however, unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe this is always followed by all packages.
Works and so far no XWayland crashes related to #1729925.
