I was one of the people with NVIDIA h/w who had issues with FEDORA-2025-82b66363b4 and I can happily confirm that the -3 build works fine for me both generally, and when launching games via Steam.
mesa-25.2.7-1.fc43 works fine for me, so I think it's the MR that's the problem
My hardware is an AMD Ryzen 7700 CPU (iGPU disabled in UEFI Bios) on an AsRock B650 Pro RS motherboard with an nVidia 5060Ti 16GB GPU. Running kernel 6.17.8-300.fc43.x86_64, KDE 6.5.2 on Wayland, with nVidia drivers v580.105.08 from the negativo17 repos.

There's no coredumps as nothing crashes - 2 processes - steam.exe and explorer.exe start, but just spin at 100% CPU, and I can't see what they're doing. If I kill those 2 processes, then it seems that the game does try to start, via another 2 explorer.exe and steam.exe processes with the command Command: ['/mnt/extra/extra-home/steve/programs/linux-steam/steamapps/common/Elite Dangerous/EDLaunch.exe', '/Steam', '/novr'] being run as args to explorer.exe.
Having enabled game-specific logging, I do get logs from the second set of processes as they start up, and then nothing further is written as they spin at 100%:

I've also tried running with various different Proton versions, but they all do the same thing
Elite Dangerous fails to start from the Steam launcher for me after this update is applied (and works fine again after it's reverted). I can't see exactly what's going wrong, but both steam.exe and explorer.exe attempting to start the game just jump to 100% CPU and nothing happens.
I accept this isn't the worst problem in the world, but in case it's suggestive of something more serious - this update broke my gkrellm's ability to see my wifi network traffic statistics (tho the wifi does seem to work fine). It doesn't even show the interface as existing (and forcing it to show a panel for the interface just shows a blink section as if the interface were down/not routed). Booting with kernel-6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64 restores its ability to see the wifi network stats
And further investigation has confirmed that it appears to change the fonts used for fallback for all the fallback families of sans-serif, serif and monospace for me (and I was using those families in my KDE font configuration) to Noto Color Emoji. Changing the font configuration to explicitly pick up the previous fallback choice (for me) of Bitstream Vera Sans / Mono shows everything correctly again. The other Fedora install I applied this to was using the default Noto Sansfonts (as per current Plasma defaults) hence why it didn't have this issue I think ?
Looking around at the fonts I have installed, I may have found the direct cause of the oddities, which is emoji related - I think that font that ends up being in use as my default font is Noto Color Emoji which indeed doesn't render lower case characters, and has number glyphs that are smaller than usual which is what I was experiencing when I typed things into the Kate editor to see what it all looks like.
I have moved ~/.config/fontconfig and ~/.cache/fontconfig out of the way, and there were 2 files not owned by RPM packages in my /etc/fontconfig/conf.d which I've moved out of the way, and have run fc-cache -f -r -v to rebuild the cache both as my own user and as root and none of it helps I'm afraid - is that what you meant?
Dunno whether this is helpful or not, but upon looking more closely - it's all the lowercase characters that aren't rendering - uppercase all render, tho I'm not sure they're quite right.
I have also applied this update to a much newer Fedora install I made recently, and all is well there, so I accept it's something to do with my setup, but would love to work out what - any way I could try and debug what's going wrong ?
Having applied this upgrade this morning, font rendering went very wrong within my KDE desktop, and very few characters were rendering, either in sddm, and even fewer in Plasma itself. I've reverted just this upgrade, and everything is functional again.
Ugh. Sorry for the noise - there must have been some transient issue when I first installed the packages - a dnf reinstall of the kernel packages has fixed it all, and now boots just fine.
I can't edit my message above, but having added single and removed rhgb quiet from the kernel command line in grub, I was able to see the problem, which is that the kernel panics because it cannot mount the root partition because it cannot find my nvme drive with the root partition which produces a kernel panic. It finds my HDD and offers up those partitions. I have a photo:

For me, I get some kind of a hard-lockup during early boot - hard enough that I have to use the reset button on the computer to restart (keyboard is unresponsive), so I don't know how to find any kernel messages, and when booting back to the 6.0.5 kernel, sudo journalctl -b -1 doesn't seem to have the failed boot (it reports the previous successful boot), so I'm not currently sure how to provide any extra useful feedback :( - any pointers?
CPU: Intel i7-8700 (not K) Mboard: ASRock Z370 Pro4 GPU (possibly important - I saw a simpledrm change in the Fedora changelog): nvidia RTX 2060 - using the https://github.com/negativo17/nvidia-kmod driver
This upgrade works for me just fine - and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2071209 is indeed fixed with this update - thanks!
Pidgin works fine for me too - thanks!
Upgrading to this still produces the same crash when starting Pidgin as 20.3.2-1 I'm afraid:
WARNING: lavapipe is not a conformant vulkan implementation, testing use only.
Pidgin 2.14.1-2.fc33 has segfaulted and attempted to dump a core file.
I too have Pidgin crashing with the same backtrace reported in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1911130
Still getting the same error from dnf upgrade as was present in the -8 build:
Error: Transaction test error:
file /usr/share/man/man5/containers-mounts.conf.5.gz from install of containers-common-1:1.2.0-9.fc33.x86_64 conflicts with file from package podman-2:2.1.1-12.fc33.x86_64
Still seems it shouldn't be in the updates-testing repo if the podman RC build isn't also pushed there?
I recently upgraded from F30 -> F31, which removed rabbitmq-server and couchdb, along with erlang-snappy, erlang-sd_notify, and erlang-jiffy, and it wouldn't re-install them because:

which is indeed true because as of https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/erlang/c/6d1b9b2ecad9542784ada2918476f9fae2018bd8?branch=master the NIF version provided is now 2.15, but the packages in question haven't been rebuilt against the new NIF version I guess (as did happen for https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Erlang_21#Dependencies but not for https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Erlang_22#Dependencies)
Solution for me was to
$ koji download-build --arch=x86_64 erlang-21.3.8.6-2.fc31
$ sudo downgrade ./*.rpm
after which I was able to successfully install and run rabbitmq-server. Obviously I then have to add an "exclude" line to the dnf config in order to avoid lots of dependency problems when doing "dnf upgrade" again.
Can we get all the relevant dependent packages rebuilt?
thanks!
Steve
Right - well firstly, I'm afraid port 1234 wasn't the real port I used (I'd rather not disclose the real port) - I should have made that clear, sorry :( - the port I'm using isn't assigned to any pre-existing rule. But fair enough, if I'm the only person getting this, it must be my config somewhere, I'll have a dig - thank you!
The upgrade of gdk-pixbuf2 causes at least gkrellm-2.4.0-5.fc43.x86_64 to segfault on startup
