@hannes now tested with hunspell packages - after setting the search path for these - it works. However, the spelling plugins for open office, which texstudio claims to understand are still not found, although the previous version did understand these.
@chatucker it is apparently possible to use multiple paths in the Spelling Dictionary Directories. So basically the reinstallation probably overwrote the entries, where the openoffice plugins were stored. Is it possible to reimport them and use them again afterwards?
@hannes thats exactly what I thought as well - I did try to reimport them; texstudio said nothing (i.e. no error, no confirmation or similar) and still did not find the plugins. From my current tests it appears to be an issue with this texstudio version itself - not your package - that it is unable to still use the *.oxt files as it was previously; if you unzip these files texstudio recognizes them again.

Not a single spell checking dictonary is recognized any longer. Revert to 2.10.8 fixes that.
@chatucker Do you have any hunspell packages installed? It works here without a problem.
@hannes no, those were manually (as recommended in the config section of texstudio) installed open office spell checking plugins.

Since my encountered problem seems to be a problem with the texstudio version generally and no further problems occured: wfm

@chatucker, I just found the upstream bug report. Will update to 2.11.1, when it's available. https://sourceforge.net/p/texstudio/bugs/1804/
@hannes Thanks a lot.
