In virt-manager I have consistently an invisible cursor in gdm after boot (once logged in, the cursor is fine, and when logged out, the cursor is also fine in gdm). I also tried gnome-boxes-3.26.1-3.fc27 and I don't reproduce the invisible cursor in there. See #1491320.
Not sure what karma to give, it's a regression from previous state regarding the cursor, but it might also has some internal qxl fixes which would otherwise cause issues on other machines (just speculation).
Works for me.. Regression tests pass OK.
