I think you should think also about upgrading the F26 electrum

That is true, will see if I am able to extract a patch.

Fedora 26 still uses the version that runs on Python 2 + one dependency that are only available in Fedora 27 and later

Therefore I suggest you to ask fedora development chat / mailing list if there is a way to force an update for F26 that only has the purpose either to disable electrum or to show a warning message that the software is highly unsafe
