xfce4-session -> Update to 4.13.2. This update brings lots of bug fixes. Additionally, with this update xfce splash screens will be removed. This will obsolete xfce4-session-engines package.

I did also notice a slight change of appearance after this upgrade, however it was upgraded along with more packages so I can't confirm whether this specific package is responsible. It took me seconds to get used to the change and if it weren't for the previous comment I wouldn't have remembered.
I wear glasses, my eyesight isn't the worse but would qualify as bad. Possibly because of how I themed my own setup, the changes I noticed were slight. Not as different as your screenshots show.

To be honest, for people with bad eyesight making arbitrary text smaller then value actually set in settings is not a "slight change of appearance".
