The original problem I had experienced and reported was that kwave crashed upon opening. The new version opens and plays a file normally (the current older version in the F29 repository stated OK a day after my bug report). One observation about the test kwave just now is that it crashed after I went to another desktop window, but I was able to re-start the test version from the xfce app launcher and play a file with no problem, and closed kwave normally. I had temporarily uninstalled the F29 kwave to run the testversion. A notable observation is that after the original crash that I reported, my sound would not work, not with SoX, not with YouTube or anything in a browser. After rebooting my system, the kwave spash screen appeared without my launching it, and I closed kwave. Afterward my sound worked again, and obviously is working now. Maybe that locking of my system sound might be helpful in identifying what went wrong; maybe to look at something else in the bug report files my system sent originally.
