I have manually installed the new packages on a fully updated clean installation of Fedora 32 Silverblue using "rpm-ostree override replace": Upgraded: gnome-software 3.36.0-1.fc32 -> 3.36.0-2.fc32 gnome-software-rpm-ostree 3.36.0-1.fc32 -> 3.36.0-2.fc32 Added: PackageKit-1.1.13-2.fc32.x86_64
Not sure why PackageKit was added.
I can confirm that the upstream issue #984 is now fixed, however I have found a different issue and have created an upstream ticket for it: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/-/issues/987
Everything else seems to work fine, but since I am not sure about the PackageKit addition and also since I have found a different issue related (but not caused by) to the #984 fix, I am giving this update a neutral karma.
The PackageKit addition is expected if you do override replace. PackageKit is explicitly excluded on the server side for composes but if you manually replace gnome-software it's pulled in because of soft dependencies.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/-/issues/987 doesn't sound like a regression to me. I don't have time to look into it right now.
