Just tried the updated packages... in GNOME I don't see the broken symlink anymore, but I also dont get the animated background as an option in the chooser. I may be doing something wrong though.
Official background now shows correctly on desktop and on the lock sreen, but fail to show on the SDDM (although choosing any other custom image works without problems)
@duffy that's not a new problem in -7, right? You mentioned it on the -6 thread. So I'm gonna figure pushing this won't make things worse.
@adamwill that's right, that isn't a new issue. and the broken symlink is fixed.
