Enabled fedora-updates repo on a FedoraCoreOS (FCOS) system and rpm-ostree installed the latest open-vm-tools successfully.
Open-vm-tools successfully starts/stops with expected journald output. It is also successfully recognized in a vSphere 7.0.3.00500 system albeit with same version number.
rpm -qa| grep shows new open-vm-tools-12.0.5-3.fc36.x86_64 as expected. However, vmtoolsd --version still shows VMware Tools daemon, version 12.0.5.35655 (build-19716617) with no build version bump.
Not aware of an easy validator to prove that vulnerability is closed.
