OpenJDK 8 FIPS and Alternatives Handling Update for Fedora 35

FEDORA-2022-ef6f35c74d created by jvanek a year ago for Fedora 35

FIPS Mode Changes

  • Separate crypto policy initialisation from FIPS initialisation, now they are no longer interdependent. This means -Djava.security.disableSystemPropertiesFile will no longer disable FIPS mode as a side-effect.

RPM Changes

  • Provide proper provides for javadoc-zip subpackage
  • Store and restore alternatives during update manually
  • -Djava.security.disableSystemPropertiesFile=false now operates as expected, disabling the system crypto policy, as with java-11-openjdk and java-17-openjdk

How to install

Updates may require up to 24 hours to propagate to mirrors. If the following command doesn't work, please retry later:

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2022-ef6f35c74d
