Failing with:

/usr/bin/chromium-browser: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/chromium-browser: undefined symbol: av_stream_get_first_dts, version LIBAVFORMAT_60

I have all of the following installed:

ffmpeg-libs-6.0-16.fc39.x86_64 ffmpeg-6.0-16.fc39.x86_64 ffmpegthumbs-23.08.1-1.fc39.x86_64 libheif-freeworld-1.16.2-2.fc39.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-bad-freeworld-1.22.5-1.fc39.x86_64 libavcodec-freeworld-6.0-16.fc39.x86_64 mesa-va-drivers-freeworld-23.2.1-2.fc39.x86_64 qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld-5.15.12-6.fc39.x86_64

BZ#2240127 Some h.264 mp4s do not play on fedora chromium, while they do on other chromium packages (i.e. rpm build from source, flatpak)

Bodhi is disabling automatic push to stable due to negative karma. The maintainer may push manually if they determine that the issue is not severe.

There's new required change that fixes the audio/video playback problem in ffmpeg-free. Unfortunately it causes the abi break between ffmpeg in fedora and rpmfussion.

For more infos please have a look at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2240127#c9

Everything should work fine if users only use libavcodec-freeworld as an overlay library rather than swapping the full ffmpeg implementation.

I will add some Conflicts/Requires to next chromium build guard against this scenario

chromium will forbid using RPMFusion?

User Icon than commented & provided feedback a year ago

No, we do not! As far as I know, Fedora's ffmpeg maintainer (Neal Gompa) has already informed the rpmfusion maintainer of this change. It's unclear whether rpmfusion's maintainer will accept this change and add it to their ffmpeg package.
