It seems this build suffers from some OpenH264 or otherwise video playback issues (like showing the picture at all) with my setup (Wayland). firefox-113.0.1-4.fc39.x86_64 was working fine for me.
EDIT: so that it is known, the problem was with pipewire being killed in the previous OOM sweep, once restarted, all works fine again. How can this be so subtle, without any clear indications what the problem could be? This user experience leaves something to be desired here.
As a follow up, pipewire-media-session -> wireplumber change did not arrive to my Rawhide system natively, and pipewire-media-session apparently got killed as well. Will try with wireplumber, but am rather skeptical it could help if it gets killed in the same manner.
