So I removed my (working) giac-1.7.0.29-3.fc36.x86_64 and tried 1.9.0.29-2.fc36 on x86_64 and still got the crash when starting icas.

The old giac-1.7.0.29 is starting correctly for me on my fc36, but with the 1.9.0 series I have this crashing problem

On 37, use the 1.9.0.29-3. That fixed the bug I reported about giac crashing on start-up.
On fc36, xcas looks also OK with 1.9.29-3
