There seems to be a real bug here - before the update, Firefox is in the GNOME launcher pane at the bottom of the overview, but after the update, it is not. Not sure why not yet, but this reproduced four times across prod and stg.
Interestingly it did not disappear from KDE's launcher.
I'm in general in favour of the new org.mozilla.firefox.desktop name - it brings us closer to upstream packaging, however I am not sure it's wise to change it in stable Fedora releases. F39 and rawhide should be fine at this point, provided that we update the name in gnome-shell of course.

gnome-shell carries a list of desktop files it shows in the launcher. Looks like the name changed in https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/firefox/c/36a09da5bc1a14f6af3fe163c84f9852e23c44c8?branch=rawhide so it should be just the matter of updating https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gnome-shell/blob/rawhide/f/gnome-shell-favourite-apps-firefox.patch with the new name.

AFAIK that change is needed for correct gnome search provider work. But yes we should not break so badly here. Will fire another build.
