Overall works great! (And feels even better on Nvidia, but could be placebo as I'm on driver 550)
I had some small issues, but I don't think they should block the update: - Sound widget shows different device names than before - System settings crashes when opening the sound tab a second time. (e.g. sound -> accessibility -> sound)
This update has been submitted for stable by bodhi.
Can reproduce, I've reported the crash through drkonqi.
Overall working good.
This update has been pushed to stable.
Yeah, confirmed what @aleasto found, only sound tab causes the crash, other tabs one can navigate in and out without problems.
Sound tab : Error loading the QML file.
qrc:/kcm/kcm_pulseaudio/main.qml:366 Type Kirigami.InlineMessage unavailable file:///usr/lib64/qt6/qml/org/kde/kirigami/InlineMessage.qml:63 Type KT.InlineMessage unavailable qrc:/qt/qml/org/kde/kirigami/templates/InlineMessage.qml:123 Cannot assign object of type "TP.IconPropertiesGroup" to property of type "IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_78*" as the former is neither the same as the latter nor a sub-class of it.
For me.
To try, if error message type "Error loading the QML file"
Log out of your user session CTRL ALT F2 login and password clear user ". cache" directories "exit" command CTRL ALT F1 and reconnect and it works, no more error messages
For me.
To try, if error message type "Error loading the QML file"
overall no issues. AMD GPU tried to replicate the sound section crash with no success. fedora kinoite
plasma-workspace-x11 update is missing here and due to the version mismatch I can't overlay install it on Fedora 40 Kinoite.
Because this was rushed to stable less than 8 hours after it was submitted. No time for me to build the missing packages. (I usually manage to build them at the same time as the chainbuild, but this time this was not possible for personal reasons.)
Plasma upgrades should NOT have autokarma enabled. Especially not upgrades from 6.n to 6.n+1. And independently of whether -x11 packages are already built or not. There is no way to catch all regressions in less than 8 hours, without the update even having ever hit the testing repository.
X11 support update here: FEDORA-2024-73dd3543c5 – please test (and give positive karma if it works for you).
I got this error during the upgrade on one of my machines. Worked fine on another one of my machines.
I don't find the new "Remote Desktop" (Enable RDP Server) feature in the "System Settings" app as advertised here: https://kde.org/announcements/plasma/6/6.1.0/
The "Remote Desktop" feature appears after installing the krdp package. However, the connection cannot be established. This seems to be related to krdp server errors:
@janulis
Why does it not recognize the software codec (openh264) on its own, only if you also install the hardware acceleration? Depending on various factors (CPU speed, screen resolution, etc.), software encoding may well be good enough.
