Returning to the 2.42.10-8 packages has refilled the icon gaps.

It seems that one of the recent commits here:

has deliberately removed compatibility with various older icon formats.
No xpm in my GKrellm.
GKrellM crashes at startup; Nautilus can't preview BMP and PPM images and EOG can't display them; OpenSlide fails its self-test and can't read MIRAX BMP slides.
Missing xpm makes xsane to crash after starting - see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2276661 .
