I am seeing thunderbird and firefox crashes too. Fix for 1898476 is allegedly already included in firefox-128.0-2.fc40 but the crashes are still there.
Bodhi is disabling automatic push to stable due to negative karma. The maintainer may push manually if they determine that the issue is not severe.
@leigh123linux let's wait and see if any updates for egl-wayland will be released upstream.
there's nothing Mozilla can do. The neccessary patches have been already applied by fedora.
it's not only firefox or thunderbird that are affected. This egl-wayland version sems to be defective and should not be pushed to stable.
Looks like the egl-wayland code always sets up explicit sync for a window but then does not set sync points if a wlStreamResource was set when creating the surface context. Looks like a bug, but I can barely grasp the code.
It is reported to Firefox. And to mesa. I know how to version lock the package, but once the update is pushed to stable obtaining the rpm for a downgrade becomes considerably more involved, especially for less advanced users. So it would be nice to keep this in testing for a few days until there is a consensus which part of the stack needs fixing. It's not like this is a security update.
no it does not run ok on gnome. Sooner or later it will crash. Sometimes it takes minutes. sometimes it crashes in just a few seconds. try some YT videos or other video streams. Scrolling can also trigger

I wonder how kde plasma works with this update, if at all?
Maybe KDE is to blame, firefox runs ok in gnome.
