gedit 48.2 is a regression for people who use the features provided by the Python plugins. The gedit maintainer has said that he plans to reimplement at least one of those plugins in C for 48.3 so my recommendation is to stay with 48.1 until there is a new release with restored functionality.

That was my plan for the RPMs, as 48.2 is not compatible with 48.1. The fedora flatpak has been updated to 48.2 though.
Maybe the Fedora Flatpak should be reverted to 48.1?
I think the Flathub version was intentionally kept at 48.1
No, flatpak apps have a single stream and aren't bounded by release branches like RPMs (or runtimes) are.
