gdm-48.0-3.fc42

FEDORA-2025-36e1759b84 created by catanzaro a year ago for Fedora 42

Restore X11 session support for Fedora 42. (It's surely time to stop using X11, but let's keep it working for at least one more release.)

How to install

Updates may require up to 24 hours to propagate to mirrors. If the following command doesn't work, please retry later:

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2025-36e1759b84

@sixpack13 What i did to test this:

  • Clean install of F42
  • Install gnome-session-xsession
  • Update to this gdm build
  • Reboot

After doing that, I was able to just choose GNOME on Xorg in gdm without any other fiddling.

Works after upgrading from Fedora 41 Workstation Thank you so much that you still have xorg in gdm!

This upgrade has borked udev rules, causing udev to complain on every rule reload:

systemd-udevd[731687]: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules:39 GOTO="gdm_disable_wayland" has no matching label, ignoring. systemd-udevd[731687]: /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules:39 The line has no effect any more, dropping.

Please fix ;)

Version gdm-48.0-2.fc42 is finally working. I am finally with FC42 aka gnome 48, x11, kernel 6.14.2 , nvidia 575.51.02 and so far everything is working perfectly! to compile the nvidia driver strictly follow this guide : http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=3301

first centos gets rolled into a fish burrito, and now the fedora update breaks nearly everything with no type of indication that x11 is intentionally gone in this update and ubuntu borking because of increasing snap reliance. Is any os safe anymore ?
