Something is very wrong with this kernel and the AMD 7840U and its 780M. I keep getting complete and total machine freezes where the only escape is to force a shutdown and restart through the power button.
I have a huge error message about amdgpu each time in the system journal. Here is the end of it :

The keyboard numLight is still working. The laptop seems to be running. But the display is dead : nothing is moving on screen. Trying to get back to login console doesn't work. Mouse no longer works. It seems Wayland is as dead as the amdgpu powering the display.
I'm at 2 freezes per day so it takes some time to happen, but it does happen.
hm, I'm running it for about 8h now ant nothing yet here
Different laptop (FW 13) but same AMD 7840U/780M. Ran it for several days (reboots and s2idle sleeps included) without display issues. Now on 6.13.11 from testing.
It takes a long time for the amdgpu to crash. Booted the laptop yesterday, it took 2 days for the crash to happen. Complete crash log is here : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2359116
checking my logs to see when it crashed :
Apr 11 18:19:56 aesir kernel: amdgpu 0000:63:00.0: [drm] ERROR flip_done timed out Apr 10 09:11:07 aesir kernel: amdgpu 0000:63:00.0: [drm] ERROR flip_done timed out Apr 09 18:49:48 aesir kernel: amdgpu 0000:63:00.0: [drm] ERROR [CRTC:79:crtc-0] commit wait timed out
It happens about daily. Sometimes the laptop was used from the last day, and crashes the next day. The error message is not always exactly the same as you can see above. But it's always amdgpu related, with a --cut here-- message from the kernel, and lines in red.

that "commit_planes" keeps coming back.
I spoke too soon - encountered this with 6.13.11. Upstream issue, includes backlink to the report here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/4141
Issue also happens in 6.13.9 Booted the laptop. Was surfing on hackernews + music playing. About 3 hours later, display froze. The music kept playing for about 5 minutes, then stopped.
I have now booted 6.13.8 ; this is the oldest kernel I have on the boot menu. Might be forced to install an even older kernel if this keeps happening :/

been using for almost two days the laptop on kernel 6.13.8-200.fc41.x86_64 uptime over 22h no amdgpu crash, freeze or issue on that kernel.
Everything is okay here.
I have the same problems with amdgpu as mentioned above, but it's not a fedora problem, but an upstream one.
Ha, got the same freeze here as well after running for 4 days
Sorry, false alarm here - something else :)
This problem is also present in Fedora 42 with kernel 6.14.2-300.fc42.x86_64 I just had to kill the whole machine to reboot it...
