This update is intended to fix some problems which can occur with alternatives when multiple entries for the same binary occur in the alternatives config file for a given capability. This is a situation which several users have found themselves in, probably related to the /sbin merge change in Fedora 42. If you do wind up with such a configuration, alternatives --config, alternatives --display etc. will show multiple entries for the same binary, which looks odd, and selecting any but the first won't really "work". More significantly, if the capability has a system service associated with it - which is known to be the case for all the 'mta' alternatives, which are postfix, sendmail, exim and opensmtpd - the service may well get disabled any time the package is updated or reinstalled.
The patch in this update makes alternatives ignore all 'duplicate' entries in the configuration file. This should make the display and configuration mechanisms behave more sensibly, and avoid the service management mechanism disabling services when updating the package (or otherwise applying a configuration).
Updates may require up to 24 hours to propagate to mirrors. If the following command doesn't work, please retry later:
sudo dnf upgrade --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2025-bbaef37b87
