After updating my Fedora KDE 40 system and rebooting, SDDM fails to display the login screen. Instead, the screen goes black after the splash screen, with only the mouse cursor briefly appearing and disappearing.
Steps to Reproduce:
Update the system using the following command:
sudo dnf update --refresh -y
Reboot the system.
Observe that after the splash screen, the screen goes black, and the login screen does not appear.
Only the mouse cursor briefly appears and disappears.
Expected Behavior
The login screen should appear after the splash screen, allowing the user to log in normally.
Actual Behavior:
The screen goes black after the splash screen, and the login screen does not appear. Only the mouse cursor appears briefly before disappearing.
Workaround:
Switch to a virtual terminal using Ctrl + Alt + F2.
Log in via the terminal.
Run the following command:
sudo systemctl restart sddm
The login screen reappears, and logging in works as expected.
