The updated package has SDL2 support and I tested it provides video preview. Also explicitly tested that recording works.
We don't currently have SFML 3.0 in Fedora therefore we cannot use it.
Regarding h264 problems - what would be the minimal reproducer? Don't think it should block the update though.
