EPEL6 v4l-utils package is too outdated, and still an unstable version. Move to version 1.6.2 with brings several bugfixes and improvements, plus the addition of new tools.
Unfortunately, RHEL6 is shipped with a too old version of libv4l. As we can't replace a RHEL6 package on EPEL, this build statically links the library at the v4l-utils tools.

Dear Gregor, Yes. Not to look on my problems, I already wrote you, that new libv4l-1.6.2-2 works properly. Regards, Dusan

There is already libv4l in RHEL6, and the libv4l included in this update would replace the RHEL package, if previously installed. EPEL packages are not supposed to overwrite packages from RHEL.
mchehab has edited this update. New build(s): v4l-utils-1.6.2-3.el6. Removed build(s): v4l-utils-1.6.2-2.el6.

avij, thanks for pointing it. I removed libv4l from this package. It will now build using static library, and won't produce a libv4l package anymore. So, no override with RHEL package will happen. I stored the old build at http://mchehab.fedorapeople.org/v4l-utils-el6/ for those that wants to get rid of the bugs or need updates at the webcam quirks that aren't currently backported to the RHEL6 library.
