Upgrade to upstream version 2.9.2
add Excludearch for aarch64 on epel7
Update to gdl 0.9.9 - build with eccodes where possible
This update has been submitted for testing by jdekloe.
This update has obsoleted eccodes-2.8.2-4.el7, and has inherited its bugs and notes.
This update has been pushed to testing.
This update obsoletes grib_api and grib_api-devel breaking following packages:
gdl-0.9.7-1.el7.x86_64 (requires libgrib_api.so.0()(64bit))
gdl-python-0.9.7-1.el7.x86_64 (requires libgrib_api.so.0()(64bit))
grib_api-static-1.12.3-5.el7.x86_64 ( Requires grib_api(x86-64) = 0:1.12.3-5.el7, grib_api-devel(x86-64) = 0:1.12.3-5.el7)
python-grib_api-1.12.3-5.el7.x86_64 (requires libgrib_api.so.0()(64bit))
thanks for your comment. Yes it does break these packages. In fact it replaces grib_api and therefore obsoletes its python sub-package. I know this is not the normal way of doing things in EPEL but I think we have no choice. grib_api is end-of-life upstream at the end of this month, and it is only a matter of time before users will get grib files that cannot be decoded anymore by the grib_api library (because the necessary tables are no longer updated).
For gdl eccodes can be used as replacement for the current dependency on grib_api. I suggested a patch to the package to do that and provided a pull request to its maintainer.
Meanwhile, I won't push to stable until these issues are resolved and all interested in it agree.
Good solution. I just wanted to note there need to be other packages fixed with same update.
This update has reached 14 days in testing and can be pushed to stable now if the maintainer wishes
