I can confirm that this fixes https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-68939 in both Kompare and KDevelop.

Everything else keeps working as before.

Updating to : qt5-qtbase-gui , qt5-qtbase-common & qt5-qtbase 5.9.6-3 solves the problem
